Tajikistan Launches Fresh Archeological Excavations in Jalaluddin Balkhi Region
The Archaeological Department of the Institute of History and Archeology at the National Academy of Sciences of Tajikistan has begun archeological excavations in Qala Laghman historic area of Jalaluddin Balkhi province.

According to ECI public relations, the historic area was first discovered in 1875. The archaeologists' map prepared then indicated two historical sites in the area and on the banks of the Vakhsh River. Qala Laghman is located 12 km from Helivard historic site and covers an area of 42.5 hectares.
According to archeologists, the region was once host to a small city with four gates and a thriving agriculture.
