President Ghani of the I.R. Afghanistan handed over the collection of historical documents of the Ghurid period to the National Archives.
According to the ECO Cultural Institute quoting the Presidential Office of Afghanistan, during a ceremony, Mohammad Ashraf Ghani, the President of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan, handed over the collection of historical documents of the Ghurid period to the National Archives.
During the event, which took place at the Archives building, President Ghani delivered a speech expressing gratitude to Khaja Mirza Mohammad for handing over the historical documents of the Ghurid period. He then submitted the documents to Tahir Zuhair, caretaker of the Ministry of Information and Culture.
Then Tahir Zuhair and Gholam Mohi-ud-Din Siddiqui delivered speeches followed by the remarks of Mohammad Afsar Rahbin, the head of the National Archives.
The head of the National Archives noted that presidency of the National Archives considers gaining access to the collection of Ghurid documents an important achievement. He continued his remarks saying that in order to enrich the depository of the National Archives, sufficient funds should be allocated so that historical documents of the country could be collected through a national call and thus, their smuggling will be prevented.
The president then instructed the officials of the National Archives to prepare a national call and propose a specific mechanism to allocate funds. He also instructed the Ministry of Finance to arrange for a special chapter to be opened for the National Archives.
President Ghani further said: "The key point is to make electronic versions of these documents to facilitate the access of teachers and students, and I am sure that these documents will soon be translated into different languages because they are very rare and most of the world countries have very few documents from the Abbasid and Ghaznavid periods."
