'Farhad Darya', Voice of Music for Peace & Reconciliation
Farhad Darya, a famous Afghan musician and singer, was born on September 22, 1962.

After completing his academic studies at the Polytechnic and Kabul Universities, he formed his first professional music group called 'Baran Ensemble'. During the civil war, Darya went to Europe and thus Baran Ensemble scattered. He married in France and moved to the United States in 1995 and settled in Virginia.
During the 1980s and 1990s, Darya released several albums, most of them on the Soviet invasion of Afghanistan, the war and displacement of the peoples of this country. 'Hello Afghanistan', which was his first album after years of war, deals with the same issue. During this time, he became one of Afghanistan's top musicians and 'Best Singer of the Year' in Denmark. Darya released more than 18 music albums during this period.
Farhad Darya has been working on philanthropic and humanitarian projects since 2003. He has been selected as the UN "Goodwill and Peace Ambassador" in Afghanistan and since then, has been active in assisting street children and has also been working earnestly in the field of human rights.
In 2008, Darya released his international and studio album "Heh", which was warmly received in Afghanistan. Farhad Darya has also held concerts in Tajikistan and Germany. His works have been messengers of peace, reconciliation and peaceful coexistence of the Afghan people. 
Afghanistan's Best Singer (2003 and 2009), Denmark's Best Singer (2005), Afghanistan's Best Album of the Year (2006), and the 2007 Human Rights Award are the titles Darya has won so far.
