Iran and Switzerland will expand their cooperation in terms of holding joint museum exhibitions, said the Deputy Minister of Cultural Heritage, Tourism and Handicrafts.

Mohammad-Hassan Talebian made the statement in a meeting with Swiss Ambassador to Tehran Markus Leitner and First Secretary at the Embassy of Switzerland in Iran Thomas Widmer, according to IRNA.
Talebian said that the history of cultural relations between the two countries dates back 100 years.
Iran has so far identified more than 1.2 million historical buildings and sites, of which 33,000 are among Iran National Heritage List, he added.
With 24 sites registered in the UNESCO World Heritage List, Iran stands at ninth level, Talebian said.
Announcing the case of Trans-Iranian Railway, which extends from the Persian Gulf to the Caspian Sea that has recently been sent to the World Heritage Committee, he said that several engineers from Switzerland and other countries have played a significant role in the construction of the railway.
Talebian also announced that Iran has 711 museums, 4,000 private collections, and a variety of historical and cultural monuments, while cooperating with France, Spain, Germany, Italy, and Armenia in holding joint exhibitions.
Highlighting Iran's rich culture and diversity of tourist attractions, Leitner referred to his visit to some Iranian cultural cities and his country's readiness for cooperation on joint exhibitions.
