Aged 86, Master Dor Mohammad Kashmi, one of Afghanistan's most prominent local artists, passed away in Takhar due to illness.
According ECO Cultural Institute quoting Tolonews, Dor Mohammad Kashmi, who was born in 1934 in a village in Badakhshan, turned to composing local songs since a very young age. He also performed several songs on the Afghan National Radio and Television.
In 1951, he started composting local songs in his birthplace in Badakhsahn.
Master Dor Mohammad Kashmi later traveled to Germany, France, Spain, UAE, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Iran to hold music concerts.
He has left behind four sons and six daughters.
For more than a half of a century of artistic career, Dor Mohammad Kashmi used classical and contemporary poems to compose pieces of music.
