During the Soviet era, Nowruz was banned by the Communist Party in 1926 as a foreign holiday, and only 62 years later, in 1988, Nowruz returned to the land.
According to the ECO Cultural Institute, quoting Fars News Agency, Nowruz was officially recognized by a presidential decree on March 15th 1991 as the country`s national holiday right after Kazakhstan gained independence.
To Kazakh people Nowruz begins with the vernal equinox. It is believed that on this day the celestial stars reach the starting point and everywhere on earth gets renewed and fills with joy.
