Lahore Holds Workshop on Reading Saadi’s Bustan and Gulistan
On the occasion of Saadi Day, a virtual workshop entitled “Reading Bustan and Gulistan” was held by the House of Culture of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Lahore with the participation of Persian students.
According to the ECO Cultural Institute, quoting the public relations of the Organization of Islamic Culture and Communication, Ja’far Ronas, cultural attaché and head of the House of Culture of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Lahore, Ms. Uzma Zarrina, poet and scholar of Persian language and literature Punjab University, Ms. Mohaghegh, Persian language teacher, and elementary and high school students of the House of Culture attended the workshop.
In his speech, Ja’far Ronas stated that the purpose of holding this workshop was to study the problems in reading Persian poetry and prose for Persian learners and those interested in Persian language and literature. “Correct reading of Persian prose and poetry not only makes it easy for the listener to understand but also makes its rhythm pleasing,” he added.
Referring to the rich literary features of Saadi’s works, the Iranian cultural attaché in Lahore said: “One of the characteristics of Saadi’s works is simplification, despite its deep and instructive moral and mystical and romantic concepts.”
He further pointed out: “The House of Culture of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Lahore has intended to hold workshops on various themes in the future to promote Persian language and literature and to introduce it to the new generation.”
