On the occasion of commemorating the 145th birthday anniversary of Allama Iqbal Lahori, the book "Iqbal in the Contemporary Persian World (Analytical Historical Bibliography of Iqbal Studies in Iran from 2012 to 2022)" was launched at the international conference hall of the ECO Cultural Institute on November 23, 2022, hosted by the ECO Cultural Institute in cooperation with the embassy of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan.
According to the ECO Cultural Institute, the book launch event was held in the presence of H.E. Murodjon Buriboev, President of ECO Cultural Institute, H.E. Rahim Hayat Qureshi, Ambassador of Pakistan to the Islamic Republic of Iran, ECO Deputy Secretary General, First Secretary of Tajikistan Embassy, as well as a number of researchers and university professors.
H.E. Murodjon Buriboev, the President of ECO Cultural Institute, in his opening speech, called Allama Iqbal Lahori the linkage of nations who belongs to the world literature and noted: "Allama Iqbal is one of the most brilliant literary personalities of the East, who skillfully nurtured the language and culture of the civilized lands of the ECO region."
He added: "Allama Iqbal's shining spirit, which is full of passion and love, has penetrated the hearts of admirers. He is the poet of all ages and generations, and his thoughts cannot be restricted in the realm of a specific territory."
H.E. Rahim Hayat Qureshi, Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan to Iran, also emphasized: "Allama Iqbal gave a unique touch to the art of poetry and imbibed his political and religious thoughts to inspire the dejected and downtrodden Muslims of the subcontinent."
Pointing out that Allama Iqbal Lahori's concept of Khudi as well as the concept of love is prominent in contemporary Persian poetry, he added: "Iran is a country that was at the center of Iqbal's philosophy and cast an indelible impression on his life and work."
Afterward, Dr. Sarvar Molaei, a permanent member of the Iranian Academy of Persian Language and Literature; Dr. Vafa Yazdanmanesh, Associate Professor of the Department of Urdu Language and Literature at the University of Tehran and head of the Urdu Literature Branch at the Islamic Encyclopaedia; Dr. Hakimeh Dastranji, university professor and the author of the book "Iqbal in the Contemporary Persian World", delivered speeches about the prestigious position of Allama Iqbal Lahori, the importance of having analytical and historical bibliography of various works in the field of Iqbal studies, and also introduced the book "Iqbal in the Contemporary Persian World".
Also, the video messages by Mr. Iqbal Salahuddin, Allama Iqbal's grandson, and Dr. Ehsan Khazaei, Iran's cultural counselor in Islamabad, Pakistan, were displayed at the ceremony, and Mr. Seyed Ahmad Shahriar, Pakistani poet, recited two Persian and Urdu ghazals for the attendees.
At the end of the event, which was broadcast live on Farhang Radio, for Ghoghnous episode, the book "Iqbal in the Contemporary Persian World" was launched and a commemorative poster was signed by the attendees.
