Shabe Yalda, an ancient holiday of the Aryan peoples, was included in the Representative List of the UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage at the suggestion of Iran and Afghanistan. The UNESCO fact sheet characterizes Yalda as a reflection of cultural identity, friendship, hospitality, cultural diversity and peaceful coexistence and highlights its special features.
