Some six million people paid visits to museums, palaces, and other heritage sites affiliated with the Ministry of Cultural Heritage, Tourism, and Handicrafts of Iran, all over the country during the New Year (Nowruz) holidays, which ended on April 2. The ancient country is home to one of the world’s oldest continuous major civilizations, embracing settlements dating back to 4000 BC. It also hosts some of the world’s oldest cultural monuments, including bazaars, museums, mosques, bridges, bathhouses, schools, gardens, rich natural, rural landscapes as well as 26 UNESCO World Heritage sites.
