In March 2023, seven months have passed since the launch of the largest tourism project of New Uzbekistan - the Samarkand tourist center Silk Road Samarkand.
The opening of Silk Road Samarkand took place on 23 August 2022. The solemn ceremony was attended by the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev, emphasizing that the project "has become another striking achievement on the path of building New Uzbekistan."

To date, the construction of the Eternal City historical and ethnographic park, fourteen villas of the Eco Village eco-village and eight 4-5 * hotels have been completed on the territory of the Samarkand tourist center Silk Road Samarkand, namely: Samarkand Regency Amir Temur, Silk Road by Minyoun, Savitsky Plaza, Lia! by Minyoun Stars of Ulugbek, as well as four hotels in the Wellness Park complex.
The total area of the site is more than 260 hectares, including 40 hectares of the water area of the republican rowing canal and about 170 hectares of green spaces. In the complex, especially for the convenience of tourists and guests, more than 39.5 km of pedestrian and 19.5 km of bike paths have been laid.
The total area of the constructed facilities is 242 thousand m2. The number of rooms is 1,198 comfortable rooms equipped according to the most modern standards. In addition, the complex has 14 presidential suites, which is a kind of record for Central Asia.
More than 12,000 specialists were involved in the construction of the Silk Road Samarkand, including more than 2,000 foreign ones.
Uzbek and international experts have repeatedly noted the importance of the center in terms of updating and expanding the region's tourism infrastructure.

The number of jobs, primarily for the citizens of Uzbekistan, created thanks to the work of the Silk Road Samarkand, is about 1800.
The amount of investment in the construction of the Samarkand tourist center Silk Road Samarkand amounted to US$580 million. New investment objects are also planned, including jointly with international partners.
In total, since the opening of the Silk Road Samarkand tourist complex, more than two dozen events have already taken place, including: the SCO summit, the CIS Inter-Parliamentary Assembly, ICT Week Uzbekistan, the Economic Forum of Uzbekistan, the summit of the Organization of Turkic States and many other international and sports events.
The summit of the heads of state of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization chaired by the President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev took place on 15-16 September 2022 and became one of the key events on the international political agenda. The Silk Road Samarkand congress center was chosen as the venue for the event - the largest in the region, capable of hosting up to 3,500 people at a time.
