In September of this year, the country will celebrate the 2500th anniversary of the ancient town of Takhti Sangin, NIAT Khovar reports with reference to the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Tajikistan. A competition will be held to develop and present the symbol of the 2500th anniversary of the ancient town of Takhti Sangin, and an album of finds and the process of excavation of this historical monument will also be published. At the same time, it is expected that numerous excavations will be carried out at the monument this year and the books “Takhti Sangin in the history of Central Asia” will be published.
It should be noted that this year it is planned to hold the exhibition “Takhti Sangin - an ancient cultural monument of Tajikistan”, and in October 2023, at the initiative of the National Academy of Sciences of Tajikistan, an international scientific symposium called “Takhti Sangin - a symbol of the confluence of the civilization of East and West” will be held.
Recall that on November 11, 2021, during the 41st session of the UNESCO General Conference, on the recommendation of the UNESCO Executive Board and the decision of the 41 C/15 of the General Conference, the nomination of Tajikistan for the 2500th anniversary of the ancient town of Takhti Sangin was included in the register of UNESCO festivals for the celebration of 2022-2023 years.
