Figurines dating back over 8,000 years unearthed in Aegean Türkiye
Scientists responsible for the discovery said that in Turkey's Izmir province on the Aegean Sea, sculptures from around 5,700 BC, believed to represent a pair of men and women and a child, were recently discovered.
Ozlem Çık, an archaeologist at the University of Thrace in northwest Turkey who is leading the excavation team, told Anadolu that they are continuing to excavate the Olucak Hill in Izmir's Kamalpaşa district, which dates back to about 8,500 years ago.
He added: Their helmet-like headgear is completely different from the sculptures found so far in Olokak and has no known equivalent in Anatolia.
Civic said these sculptures are made of baked clay and clay materials.
