"Books: A Time - Honored Bridge of Friendship Among ECO Member States" was held
This cultural event organized by ECI, in cooperation with "Iran Book and Literature Institute", "Ketab.TV", "Iran Book News Agency (IBNA)" and "Farhang Radio Network", at the international conference hall of this institution, on Thursday, November 30, 2023.
According to the information base of the ECI, this conference started with the speech of Dr. Saad S. Khan, the President of the ECI. He recognized the capacities of national libraries and document centers of ECO member countries and emphasized on increasing future interactions among them. He talked about importance of books in the age of smart phones, digital books and Artificial Intelligence
 
The event was attended by Mr Kashif Zaman and Dr. Hussein Avni Bichakli, both the ECO Deputy Secretary Generals, Bahram Azimov, the Second Secretary of the embassy of Tajikistan, Mozaffar Mohammadi, Counselor of the ambassador of Tajikistan in Iran, several diplomats, academicians, cultural officers, cultural associations and NGOs, book publishing companies and many book activists.
 
Ali Sadeghzadeh Vayqan, researcher in historical documents & manuscripts of the National Library and Archives of lran, Hüseyin Kutan, head of department of manuscripts and rare works in Sulaymaniyah Libraries, Noshad Rokni Director of Documentation Conservation Department Malek National Library and Museum Institution, Ehsanollah Shokrollahi, director of the publication department in Library, Museum and Document Center of Iran Parliament, Salime Rajabzadeh, deputy of the National Library of Tajikistan, Uzma Zareen Nazia, Associate Professor, Persian Department, Oriental College, Punjab University Lahore and Abikova Gulshat Masalimovna, the head of the service of rare books and manuscripts of the National Library of Kazakhstan, spoke about the role of ECO’s bibliographers and researchers in strengthening friendships and presenting the civilizational and cultural heritage on the international arena, reminding of common memories of ECO region countries as a book, the influence of books on the convergence of the nations of the region" and "customs of getting to know and using manuscripts.
 
It may be added that Mrs. Zhanar Sokhan, the wife of the Ambassador of Kazakhstan, donated some books to the library of ECO Cultural Institute in this ceremony. In letter part of this seminar, the attendees enjoyed the performance of live Afghan music. Also, various videos introducing ECO member libraries were broadcasted in this event.
