His Excellency Dr Saad S. Khan, the President of ECO Cultural Institute, and Hamidreza Gholamzadeh, the Secretary General of Asian Mayors Forum, had a meeting at the ECI's headquarters in Tehran on January 4, 2024.
During the meeting, they discussed the history and activities of their respective organizations and the importance of promoting cultural diversity and harmony in the region.
Dr Khan and Dr Gholamzadeh emphasized the need to work together to increase the number of member cities in the AMF from the cities of ECO member states, which would enhance the diversity and representation of Asian cities and local governments. They also expressed their appreciation for the support and collaboration between their organizations in various fields of mutual interest. The partnership between them was seen as an issue of mutual prestige and expected to further raise the profile and outreach of both organizations.
The Asian Mayors Forum is an international non-governmental organization that was established in 2008 with the support of the Asian Parliamentary Assembly and the initiative of Tehran Municipality. It aims to promote cooperation and exchange of knowledge and experiences among mayors and city managers in Asian cities. The forum has played a significant role in shaping urban affairs and management in Asia over the past decade.
