MAZAR-E-SHARIF: A fourday exhibition of handicrafts and domestic products under the theme of “Umul Belad” has been held in the country’s northern province of Balkh, the provincial Industry and Commerce Department said in a statement the other day.
The exhibition has been held with the financial support of the International Labor Organization, for supporting domestic products and attracting investment in the country, the statement said, adding about 90 companies have put their products on display in the four-day exhibition. The head of the international labor organization for the northern zone of the country, Zwati Surati, called the participation of Afghan businesswomen in the exhibition a major win and said the women of Afghanistan are in need of greater support now than ever before. Surati said the organization was supporting businesswomen to develop small businesses in Afghanistan and assured her organization would stand with Afghanistan.
This is the second big exhibition in Balkh in the last one year, in which a number of businessmen and investors, including women, are displaying their handicrafts and domestic products.
