The delegation of Türkiye’s Radio and Television Supreme Council (RTÜK), which was in Tehran to participate in the International Media Literacy Conference organized by the ECO Cultural Institute (ECI), held a series of meetings with media and cultural institutions in Iran.
On 19 August 2026, Ms. Feyza Gizligider, Head of RTÜK’s Strategy Development Department, and the accompanying delegation met with officials from Iran’s Sound and Vision Regulatory Authority (SATRA). Dr. Ahmet Akalın, Assistant Director of the ECO Cultural Institute, also attended the meeting.
The meeting focused on recent developments in the media sector, with particular emphasis on the importance of strengthening media literacy in combating fake news and disinformation.
The participants exchanged views on promoting media literacy across ECO member states and emphasized the importance of ensuring that societies have access to accurate and reliable information. Discussions also addressed promoting responsible media consumption and strengthening individuals’ ability to critically evaluate information sources.
