The President of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan, Mohammad Ashraf Ghani, arrived in Herat this morning at the head of a high-ranking government delegation to review the general situation in Herat and meet with officials and various segments of the people.
According to the ECO Cultural Institute, quoting Bakhtar News Agency, on his way to the Herat International Airport, the President was greeted by the Governor and the elders and influential people of the province, and the children greeted him with flowers.
Then, the President, accompanied by the First Vice President Amrullah Saleh and a number of other government officials, unveiled the plaque and named the Herat International Airport after Khajeh Abdullah Ansari International Airport.
After naming the airport, the President said in a speech: “It is a matter of pleasure and honor that today Herat International Airport was officially named after Khajeh Abdullah Ansari International Airport, and congratulations to all Afghans and the Islamic world on this great step.”
