A portrait of the writer Behrouz Boujani by Angus McDonald has been awarded the 2020 Archibald prize people’s choice award.
According to the ECO Cultural Institute, quoting Honar Online, McDonald first made contact with Boujani in 2018 while creating a short film about the detention centre in which Boujani was being held on Manus for 6 years. Boujani now lives in New Zealand where this portrait was drawn.
