Street libraries are set to be installed in 10 of the busiest spots in Dushanbe, the capital of Tajikistan, this year.
According to the ECO Cultural Institute, quoting Khavar News Agency, the move will be based on the Kitobz.tj project. According to Bahram Sa’adiyev, the leader of the project, the move is in line with the initiative of Tajik President Emomali Rahmon:
Its purpose was to encourage adolescents and young people to study and facilitate access to books. According to this plan, the books will be placed on glass shelves; each reader will read them for free and then put them on the same shelf for others to read.
It is worth mentioning that this action was carried out for the first time in 2017 in the central garden of Khorog city, the capital of Tajikistan’s Badakhshan province, by the Omidvar Social Organization and Pamir Energy Company, which was warmly welcomed.
