More than 350,000 foreign tourists visited Tajikistan in the past year, down 27.8% from 2019.
According to the ECO Cultural Institute, quoting Fars News Agency in Dushanbe, the number of foreign tourists has decreased by more than 27 percent in 2020 due to the Coronavirus pandemic and the closure of borders.
Last year, 410,000 foreign nationals traveled to Tajikistan, which is 909,000 less than 2019.
Of these, more than 350,000 are tourists. The number of foreign tourists in Tajikistan decreased by 27.8% compared to the previous year.
The 332,000 foreign tourists who visited Tajikistan in 2020 were from the Commonwealth of Independent States and 18.5 thousand from countries in other continents.
Most of the tourists who visited the country last year were citizens of Uzbekistan, Russia, Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan, Afghanistan, China, India, Iran and the United States.
The number of Tajik citizens who left the country last year was 740,000, down 33% from the previous year.
The number of tourism companies in Tajikistan increased to 54 last year, and currently 215 tourism companies are registered throughout the country.
There are 188 hotels, 26 inns and motels, 46 sanatoriums, 8 health resorts, 10 holiday homes, a boarding house, a camp and 4 tourist residences in Tajikistan.
