Tajikistan, Uzbekistan Prime Ministers Meet in Khujand
The Government delegations led by the Prime Minister of the Republic of Uzbekistan Abdulla Aripov and the Prime Minister of the Republic of Tajikistan Kohir Rasulzoda have met in Khujand.
According to the ECO Cultural Institute, quoting Khavar News Agency, at the meeting, it was emphasized that an open, trusting and constructive dialogue between the President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev and the President of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon contributed to the rise of cooperation to a new level of multi-vector strategic partnership, strengthening the atmosphere of friendship and mutual understanding between the two fraternal peoples.
The parties discussed a wide range of issues of strengthening and further enhancing multifaceted cooperation between the two countries in the light of the preparation for the upcoming visit of the President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev to Tajikistan this year.
During the talks, the parties considered potential opportunities for further increasing trade, joint measures to strengthen industrial cooperation, issues of transport, communication, water and energy interaction, further development of interregional contacts.
The meeting of the delegations was held in the spirit of openness, friendship and mutual understanding.
Uzbekistan is Tajikistan’s third largest trading partner, with trade between the two countries reaching $338.8 million by 2020.
It is said that the text of 29 cooperation agreements between the two countries is currently under review.
Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev will pay an official visit to Tajikistan on June 10-12. This will be Mirziyoyev’s fourth visit to Tajikistan since he was elected as President of Uzbekistan in 2016.
